GRATEFULNESS TO EUROSCOLA TRINITARIAS SA

The Head of the School Santísima Trinidad of Salamanca wants to transmit a deep congratulation to the team "Euroscola Trinitarias" directed by the teacher Amaya Fernández. The headmistress, all the teachers and the whole educational community of the School are proud of this team for the well done work, the high enthusiasm, the originality of the ideas, the illusion of creating activities and promoting top-level contacts: our teams have reached the Spanish Royal House!, also the president of the nation, and the mayor of Salamanca.

These have been a few months of intense work in which we all have felt a bit more Europeans, we have vibrated with every challenge. With this interesting project, our teams have shown to everybody and to themselves that they have many abilities such as: collaborative work, use of technological resources, experiences in our "Lego classroom", recordings, visits, culinary art, etc.

Thanks, Amaya for your enthusiasm, for your sleepless nights, for your work of leadership that has given illusion, effort and capacity of overcoming to both teams.

Thank you guys because you have spotted our School in an excellent place. For sure, you will never forget this experience and this work and it will always be a part of those achievements that you are proud of in your life.

Thank you very much and very good luck!!

Our Ten Main Thoughts

We almost cried when we read them out loud together… they are really touching.

1. Euroscola, this is the name of the trip that was going to begin a few months ago. We were a group of pupils with major or minor relationship among us together with the English teacher, but as we were travelling together and knowing ourselves, a common ILLUSION grew: we were already a team, we were tied up together as the countries of our dear Europe are tied up too.

2. Most of us have learned things that, without this work, we would have never remembered, as for example, the difficulties we had to enter the European Union. Before this 30 years we were in a dictatorship and could not enter. Later many representatives of Spain struggled hard to get the entry of Spain and eventually, we entered on January 1, 1986.

3. After much thinking, we have considered that the European Union offers only advantages and we have not found any disadvantage for the countries that belong to it.

4. We think that Spain and the EU are ONE, we cannot name Spain without naming the EU.

5. Thanks to the European Union the countries in it have a better relationship among them since they have a link that makes them work together in creating agreements to reach such important aims as promoting the human rights and fighting to reach a real PEACE.

6. We have learned to do teamwork, to see that 28 countries of the EU are also working in as a team. Together they have improved the economy, the traffic among countries is easier, thanks to the same currency they have made the purchases and the communications among them easier.

7. If Spain was not in the EU, it would be a country with a worse economy and it would not be so well-known in the rest of the world, We would not have, for example the CAP, which has made the Spanish lands to modernize in great way. Learning things as these make you wish to join more interesting projects like this one because we will never forget about it. We hope to have more experiences of these along our life.

8. Our classmate Min, from China, has a curious thought: "I am from China and my thought is that after so many years living in Spain, I realize that I did not know anything about the European Union until I took part in this contest, and I learned many things, I  even knew the mayor of Salamanca… I didn't know who he was!"

9. Now that the moment to finish the Project is coming, we are feeling a bit empty after going through so many nerves and so much work. Thanks to the European Parliament, teachers, friends and School for this unforgettable experience and for having encouraged us to live it.

10. For all members of the team, the project Euroscola does not only mean what we have worked to fulfill the blog, but it means much more... It has taught us to lose our fears, with nerves, why not, but we have been able to do things that before we could not have imagined: to dance, to be applauded, to face the audience, to interview important people, to think deeply about an hypothetical situation, etc. We have had to be more creative than never, to practise during many break times, and, with all these, we feel a little bit more mature in facing life!!

THANK YOU, EUROSCOLA.

Shakespeare has told us what he thinks about the European Union!

Look at this! We have achieved one of the most challenging interviews we proposed! The one to Shakespeare, because this year we also commemorate the 400 year from his death! Discover what he would think about the European Union here:

Europe Direct

After several contacts with Europe Direct's office in Salamanca, they have
dedicated us a post with something that they liked in our blog... THE EURODANCE!

We are very happy for this mention and we want to thank Mr. Luis Norberto González Alonso, The Director of the Center Europe Direct of the USAL for all his help and dedication.

Thanks a lot.

Body letters

Our Physical Education teacher, Ángel, come up with the idea of creating letters with our body, a variant of acrosport, so we did it in our way!

Our own Euro coin!

On having asked so many people about what they would put in an Euro commemorating 30 years of Spain in the EU, we have decided to create our own Euroscola Trinitarias Coin so… we all have had a brainstorm and finally this is what we got!!

Can you imagine if one day it becomes a reality???

At last we appear on the news!

This morning we got up with an ENORMOUS SURPRISE!!

Finally we got an article about our project published and... it has been worth waiting because we are in a FULL PAGE!

We were thinking that it would not come in time because we only still have TWO days for the contest to close but IT CAME and it came with a renewed ILLUSION for our project set in our two blogs.

We hope you like it as much as we do! smiling-face-with-open-mouth-and-smiling-eyes.pngsmiling-face-with-open-mouth-and-smiling-eyes.png

What impact has had in technology the belonging of Spain to the EU?

To answer this question, we have asked our team colleague Mario, who has developed an app for the metropolitan bus here in Salamanca (of course, it is also in English Face With Stuck-Out Tongue and Winking Eye on Apple iOS 9.3 ). And this is what he told to us about the evolution of technology in the EU:

It is hard to imagine how our life could be if we would have not entered in the EU that January of 1986. The presence of Europe extends to all aspects of life, and of course technology doesn’t escape from it.

First of all, we wouldn’t have the great communication networks we have today. Europe tracks the digital access coverage of its countries, and it funds projects to make this access even greater. Without them, we could not have Internet in many rural zones of Spain, and of course the optical fiber would be an utopia. In addition, many companies, included some so big like “Los 40 Principales”, the leader musical radio station in Spain, receive money from Europe to work. This is especially important when launching a new idea, and many entrepreneurs have benefited of this important economic support.

Capture from los40.com site in 2013, when they showed this caption on their footer, pointing up that part of their financing came from European funds.

On the other hand, they also have looked into giant companies, like Google, Apple or Microsoft, to prevent them to abuse of us reporting their possible monopolies over the market. This has achieved to change some things, for example Internet Explorer (or Edge on newer versions) on Windows, won’t be the default option any more thanks to the pressure of Europe. And they have also asked Facebook and Google for more privacy settings, getting the “right to be forgotten” (the possibility to ask the search engines to delete information related with you if you want).

Furthermore, they are forcing manufacturers to create a single phone charger, in such a way that users are able to charge their phone regardless the producer company. And also their Institutions have decided to abolish the roaming expenses that the citizens have to pay if they use their data or voice services when traveling to other european countries as from the 2017.

Eventually, we have to remark the simplicity for developers, geek people who create the software we use, to do their job in our country in the same way they do in the rest of Europe, because of the Euro and the common rules for them on the apps stores. And here in Spain we have a great new technology company, BQ, which is making a growing gap on the Spanish and European market, creating a lot of great hardware products that maybe wouldn't exist if they wouldn't have the conveniences of being in the EU.

They are huge advances that we wouldn’t have if Spain wouldn’t have entered into the EU 30 years before, and we are very glad about it! ;)

What would have happened if Ukraine had belonged to the European Union?

Our Project-mate Bogdan has done a deep thought about the European Union from his personal point of view, from his personal life situation…
Thanks a lot, Bogdan!!

Hello! My name is Bogdan. I would like to tell you what would have happened if Ukraine Flag for Ukraine on Apple iOS 9.3my native country, had been in the European Union.
In the first place, the currency wouldn't be the Grivna, but the Euro, so its economic system would completely change and, the great crisis in which the country is immersed, wouldn't exist.
On the other hand,  Ukraine is a country with many things to offer to the rest of Europe such as economically or culturally because, in my opinion, it has a very interesting culture.
That's why I think that if Ukraine had been in the European Union, the citizens would be now more independent from Russia, so the horrible war which is now taking place in its borders, wouldn't exist and inhabitants would be happier.

What would you put on an euro coin to commemorate the 30 years of Spain in the EU?

We did this question to our classmates, and this is what they answered:

Thanks to everybody for your collaboration!

Our bio teacher has answered!

We have raided our biology teacher Manuel Fernández in a break to ask him a few things about the European Union. And here are his answers in two different interviews! Of course we have for you a translation to English Winking Face on Facebook Website.

TRANSCRIPTION:

1. Which have been the implications for citizens about having a common coin in all the Eurozone countries?
So, at the citizen level, I think a great convenience. Because, before the Euro showed up, if you wanted to travel, you had to exchange the coins, buy stuff with prices that you event don't understand... But now it is very easy to use one coin in your country and the same in other European countries.

2. What has been the most important news for you in this 30 years?
Precisely the born of the Euro, due to its advantages for us. I couldn't say one more important than that... Yes, definitely the arrival of the common coin.

3. What would you add to improve the European Union?
Well, I think that the poorest countries deserve to be listened or treated in a different way. Because I think there is a lot of inequality among the richest and the poorest countries in the European Union.

• Thank you so much for your time to answering these questions, Mr. Fernández. See you on our next bio lesson!

Eurodance!

We have lots of FUN dancing for all our schoolmates. We have turned to be GREAT DANCERS!
