Salamanca, European Capital of Culture

In 2002, our city, Salamanca, was chosen to be the European Capital of Culture because of several facts, among them:

-In 1988 was named World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Salamanca is well-known for its University, one of the oldest of Europe, for its artistic and humanistic tradition and for its historical heritage.

-It has also been proclaimed the City for Spanish with lots of the best teaching language centres and the good pronunciation of the language in these lands.

These titles have given the city of Salamanca the great prestige that it still has because coming to Salamanca means to mix yourself with the lively, young and university city at the same time you feel overwhelmed with the beauty of its amazing historical buildings.
