The beginning...

Back in November, our English teacher, Amaya, sent a message to all her students
to tell us about a contest called Euroscola. She said it was something
interesting with what we could learn a lot about Europe and also… we were
celebrating a birthday! Spain turns thirty years within the European Union...
so we had to celebrate it!

As there were enough people to make two teams, we decided to make a blog in
Spanish and one in English, with many common activities, of course AND WITH THE
SAME  ILLUSION... To celebrate this birthday and complete the grand finale in
Strasbourg, why not? And from that moment we began to dream and to work.

The first things we learned that day were the symbols of the EU which are:

The motto of the EU
"United in diversity" which refers to the way in which Europeans have united,
forming the EU with  great diversity of cultures, traditions and languages of
the continent.

The European Flag
The twelve stars in a circle symbolizing the unity and harmony among the peoples
of Europe.

Europe Day
May 9th, because the first idea about a united Europe was presented on May 9th,
1950, in a speech by the French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman.

The European anthem
The melody used to represent the EU is part of the Ninth Symphony composed in
1823 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
